Theresa woke up early on Easter, before anything was up. She had met Jack Frost and Santa, and while it felt a bit selfish, she wanted to meet the Easter Bunny as well. For the past few years she had always slept in and missed him, this year she woke up at 2 AM.
The young girl had turned 12 only a few weeks ago, and was moving to a new house when the school year was over. Soon she would be 'too old' for egg hunts and this would probably be her last chance. Egg hunts were never much fun anyway, since no one joined her, but for the past three years she had found as many 'usual' hiding places as she could. Though they changed a bit every year.
Pulling on her winter coat and boots Theresa went out into the snow.
--------
Bunnymund was hiding his eggs while trying to not leave foot prints, "Stupid snow" he grumbled, placing a trio of eggs in a small clear patch under a dead bush.
"It's already spring, but it's freezing out here. I hate this city sometimes" Bunny continued to complain as he hid his brightly coloured eggs. He had to make sure they were covered from most sides, otherwise they stood out too well against the brown and white in the park.
Bunnymund stood up with a sigh, he hated hiding the eggs in the same places as previous years, but this particular park did not seem to have many good hiding places and he still had a bunch of eggs to hide.
"You're the Easter bunny?" Bunny froze as he heard a slightly condescending voice behind him, turning around he saw a young girl, at least he assumed it was a girl. It was hard to tell with how she was bundled up.
"Yeah, what of it?" He said, looking the small girl up and down
"Oh, nothing, I just didn't expect that I had already met you" The girl said, "My names Theresa, you probably don't remember you but I saw you when I was five."
"Oh" Bunny replied, not sure what to say since he really did not remember the girl, "Sorry, but I have work to do..." He didn't want to blow off the girl, but he was busy.
The girl bit her lip, "Right, sorry" Pausing she looked at the moon and quietly added, "Can I help?" When she looked back at Bunny he was shocked, most kids would have looked hopeful after asking such a question, she looked ready for disappointment.
With a soft smile Bunnymund handed her a basket, "Hide the buggers well, I have a reputation after all"
Theresa's eyes lite up as she took the basket and ran off. She started hiding eggs in places Bunny had not even thought of. Most of the places were big enough for a for a person to get into, so Bunny had not considered them, but as she hid the eggs he saw that despite what he would think they worked quite well.
Bunny went back to hiding the rest of the eggs, the job for this city was done faster than usual with the help of the girl, putting him slightly ahead of schedule.
"Now don't you go collecting all the eggs you hid" Bunny said as Theresa was about to head home, it was now 3 AM and the girl needed sleep.
"Don't worry, I probably won't even go to any egg hunt." Theresa said, with a slight smile, "It's only fun when someone does it with you after all." Theresa yawned and turned to go home, "Thanks for letting me help, Bunny" she said.
"No problem" Bunny replied, as he created a tunnel and went to hide eggs in another city. As he hopped through the tunnel he made a mental note to check on the girl after he was done with Easter.
A guardians work is never done he thought with a slight sigh
Yeah, he's a bit hard to write because of that though XD
